2017 was a year of growth in all directions. We started the year freshly transplanted into a new town, in a new state 2,795 miles away from our hometown. Our life was in boxes but atlas we were back in the states after living abroad for too long, and missing everything American. I spent most of the year waiting for breaks in the rain so that we could get out there and shoot and explore. The air is different here in Washington and any opportunity I got to be in the middle of the forest, at the steps of mountains, or by the ocean, well I took it. The Pacific Northwest runs in my blood and lives within my soul. Living here has influenced me in more ways than once. It inspired me to photograph in a more laid back lifestyle adventure way, a way that felt more natural to me than my own skin. The Pacific Northwest inspired me to stop photographing for perfection and shoot for emotions. In this upcoming year I want to push that even more, photographing only things I want to photograph, and working on being present.
